IQI — Infrastructure Quality Initiative

Infrastructure includes actual assets, facilities, networks, and other objects intended to perform infrastructure functions over their life cycles.

IQI applies the Whole-Quality methodology to identified infrastructure objects. IQI develops quality standards for specific infrastructure object classes, with requirements for the object and for examining its Quality.

The methodology connects Intended Functions and Intended Results with applicable requirements and examination of the object’s actual condition. Evidence supports Findings and a bounded Quality Claim.

IQI work addresses infrastructure classes, including energy systems, data centers, residential buildings, bridges, and water systems.

A Whole Quality Approach to Infrastructure -

Locally and Worldwide

1. Identify the actual infrastructure object and define the examination boundaries.

2. Establish its Intended Functions and Intended Results.

3. Apply the requirements in the IQI standard for that class of infrastructure.

4. Examine the object’s actual condition using appropriate Evidence.

5. Synthesize the Findings and communicate a bounded, Evidence-supported Quality Claim.
